I first met Derek on the Rough Storage Platform in 1986 and subsequently worked with him many times during my time at BG Group. He was a fine Engineer and exemplary Mentor. His ever calm and professional manner influenced me greatly and I will always remember him...Russell

I first met Derek when I auditioned for Keynote Blue and he immediately made me feel at ease with his calm and gentle manner. We had a common passion for the guitar and would always chat in rehearsal breaks about guitars, guitarists and our favourite music. I only knew him for a short while be he felt like an old friend. Farewell Derek, you will be missed by all of us.

Derek and I first met when we were 11 years old, and in our first year at Thames Valley Grammar School. We quickly became best friends, and have been ever since. We had so many great times together, along with my brother Kevin, Stephen Chandler, Stewart Holmes and Paul Ward. In December 1977, Derek did me the honour of being my best man at my wedding in Denver, Colorado.
I’ll miss you, old pal. I hope that wherever you are, you’re at peace.
Much Love, Ian xxx
